CREATOR
Born in Toronto, Alessandro Piedimonte moved to Italy at the age of 12. There he attended art school and acquired his classical style. At the age of 25 he moved back to Canada to attend the Animation Program at Sheridan College. Alessandro graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Arts in 2010 with honours, and was the recipient of the Silver Medal for highest GPA in the Program.
During his last year of school, he created a feature quality animated short entitled A Cut Above, which was included in the Air Canada - En Route Film Festival (Finalist - Best Animated Short), and was internationally recognized at Memorie Migranti (Winner - Best Film Category Masters), TIFF - Toronto International Film Festival (Sprockets - Future Frames), just to name a few. These achievements allowed Alessandro to be a guest speaker at TIFF.
Alessandro has worked in the animation industry for the past 10 years and his client list includes Netflix, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon and more. His drive, determination and hardworking mindset made it possible for him to shine in the several departments he’s worked in: Prop Design, Character Design, Animation, Story Boarding and Layout and Backgrounds. Alessandro’s enthusiasm does not only help him excel in individual tasks, but has also made him a successful team manager.
His love and passion of storytelling, along with his academic studies in Greek Mythology, Classical Art, Storytelling, Romantic Literature, History of Film were all factors in his contribution as a co-writer of the story and script for The Land of Rhythmos©. Alessandro’s collaboration helped contribute content that added depth and background to the characters, locations and the overall plot of the story. Using the audio created by co-creator Tony Tosti as inspiration, he developed the visual style and created the storyboard, characters and the lands. Alessandro provided the imagery and collaborated in the creation of the animatic.
Stepping out his comfort zone Alessandro also designed wonderful sets for the theatrical production, built props and helped research and design the costumes. Throughout the summer-fall of 2019 he also supervised artists that co-operated in the painting of the stills for the animatic, developed educational content, held auditions and helped coordinate and develop other important aspects of the project.
Alessandro has committed thousands of hours to this wonderful and very special, multi- disciplinary project. His ultimate goal has always been to create a classical story that contains important values that will ultimately establish a legacy that his daughter can be proud of.
